Stripping the subject of what can define him: his environment, clothing, and face, I leave little trace of the identity of the sitter and thus, I explore the antithesis of my daily work as a portrait painter, both artistic and commercial. Maintaining only its typological character, I seek to create tension by keeping each subject anonymous. I make them pose and frame three-quarters of their backs, almost ready to turn around and reveal themselves to the viewer, who must already be curious to know who is behind the hair and skin they see.

Just as I divide my career between art and a daily commercial life, the Dada artist Man Ray was also a photographer who led this double life. His work "Le Violon d'Ingres" from 1924 is one of the aesthetic references of my Anti-portraits. Man Ray, in turn, used as a reference the work of Jean August Dominique Ingres, "Le Bain Turc" from 1862. Both works explore the sensuality of women and their beauty, but that is not my intention in the execution of this new series.

Despojando al sujeto de lo que lo puede llegar a definir: su entorno, ropa, y rostro, dejo poco rastro de la identidad del retratado y así, exploro la antítesis de mi trabajo diario como retratista, tanto artístico como comercial. Manteniendo únicamente el carácter tipológico del mismo, busco crear tensión al mantener en el anonimato a cada sujeto. Los hago posar y encuadro a tres cuartos de sus espaldas, casi a punto de voltearse y revelarse ante el espectador, quien ya debe estar curioso por saber quién está detras del cabello y piel que ve.

Así como divido mi trayectoria entre el arte y un día a día comercial, el artista dada Man Ray, era también un fotógrafo que llevaba esta doble vida. Su obra "Le Violon d'Ingres" de 1924 es una de las referencias estéticas de mis Anti-retratos. Man Ray, a su vez, utilizó como referencia el trabajo de Jean August Dominique Ingres, "Le Bain Turc" de 1862. Ambas obras exploran la sensualidad de la mujer y su belleza, pero esa no es mi intención en la ejecución de esta nueva serie.
